As I mentioned earlier this month, this is a petty and spiteful move by Trump supporters in positions of state authority. It won't damage Facebook and Twitter much, if at all, and many outside Trump's cult will recognise this move for what it is.
Occasionally Trump gains support, but given his polarising behaviour, he generally loses support and fails to gain it. The Republicans lost the House of Representatives in the 2018 Midterms, they lost both houses and the White House in 2020, and they lost a lot of Republican support on 6th January when a bunch of Trump supporting terrorists stormed the US Capitol building. (I feel sorry for some of those in that last action, they were clearly brainwashed, but what happened there was terrorism in the strict sense of the word) Next year, the Republicans may lose further at the Midterms, depending on how the Democrats act between now and in Nov 2022, and so they have a choice. Become a shrinking cult full of people who disgust their countrymen, or grow up and stop seeking Trump's approval
