March... ing

Does anyone feel the whoosh of time as it whizzes past you? I listened to an interesting podcast the other day, it was by the Naked Scientists and to topic was "Time: it's all relative". I think it was broadcast just for me.

Knitting most days. Big needles make such a difference, my Mailin jumper might be finished before the next winter.

Cooking and baking - rarely and not at all. Annie and Richard are in charge and at most I get to make sandwiches for the boys. I am not sure how I feel about that but for now, I am good. Next week's menu plan include lentil soup with rolls, chicken fajitas, vegetable curry and cottage pie. I think I am down to make the lentil soup.

Listening to "The Institute" by Stephen King. I had forgotten just how good a writer Mr King is. This is a slow book but one that is difficult to put down. I just finished, what a rollercoaster. It was an 18 hours long book, excellent value for money.

Watching 24 hours in A&E. It is interesting, educational, gentle and never sensational. I like the human stories, both of patients and staff.

Deciding on a border for my Ice Cream Soda quilt. I find it very difficult to make simple decisions like that but eventually (after weeks of pondering) narrowed it down to two, remnants of a blue Chambray and the remnants of my red Liberty Birthday fabric. And then I went and cut into a large piece of orange flowery fabric destined for a dress and made it into binding.

Also trying to decide if I should join the big boys and girls running club. Our beginners group duplicated one of their training sessions*. It nearly finished me off and I was a bit wobbly on my legs for the following two hours and in fact two days later, my body still felt a bit achey.

Ironing one of Richard's shirts and realising it used to belong to my dad. He died almost 18 years ago and seeing that his shirts are still used brought a lump to my throat.

Scrubbing my favourite (only) filthy footstool with soap and water. I have been meaning to do this since before Christmas. Jack the mucky pup rubbed plenty of mud in it and once something is a bit grubby, it seems to attract more dirt. I'll do the same with our armchairs over the next few weeks.

Renewing Sam's phone contract. Next time this is due, he will be fully fledged and earning his first graduate salary. Fingers crossed.

Itching to to go in the garden and clean up the mess. It is far two muddy unfortunately.

What are you up to these days?

*For those interested in running, the session was a 2 km warm-up (!!) followed by something called out-and-back (15 minutes out, then turn around and run back taking 30 seconds less to cover the same distance). The warm-down was the same as the warm-up but in the opposite direction.
