BRIDEGROOM FORGETS BRIDE'S NAME IN A SHAM WEDDING

Zubair Khan, 28 (bridegroom) plotted a sham wedding as his UK student visa was about to expire. The plot fell apart when he could not remember his future wife's name and told the registrar they only communicated online.
He was forced to phone his uncle to get the name of the bride to be during the first appointment with the official who was to conduct the ceremony.
This blunder gave away the plot and both police and immigration officials were on hand to arrest the groom and bridegroom at the wedding.
Zubair Khan is from Pakistan while the arranged wife, Beata Szilagyi, 33 is from Hungary. The mother of the bride was offered 2000 pounds for the plot.
Zubair was sentenced to twenty months imprisonment together with his uncle who arranged the whole marriage. The bride, Beata was sentenced to seventeen months imprisonment.
