| Our view: A tip of the hat, a kick in the pants - East Oregonian Posted: 29 Aug 2020 05:00 AM PDT  A tip of the hat to the Eastern Oregon hospitals, including Good Shepherd Health Care System and CHI St. Anthony, that have banded together to create Summit Health. The new insurance provider will increase the number of health insurance options for senior citizens through Medicare Advantage plans. The funding structure for such plans also gives area hospitals more flexibility in the way they spend those dollars, allowing for a greater focus on preventative care. From housing to health care, resources are often scarce in Eastern Oregon compared to the metro area of the state. When organizations across the region pool their resources, it usually yields benefits to area residents that no one organization could have offered on its own. A tip of the hat to Umatilla County and the city of Hermiston for providing grants to support the Maxwell Market. Even though the market is run differently than a typical farmer's market — as a private business instead of a nonprofit run by volunteers — it has been a popular, successful community event in years past. It benefits local farmers and crafters who expand their customer base and benefits residents able to buy a variety of fresh produce and other locally produced goods in a one-stop shop. As a long list of local attractions and events are canceled or falter this year, it is important that we do what we can to make sure they don't become a permanent casualty of the pandemic. We are still holding out hope that 2021 will bring the full return of the summer events we all know and love, from the Pendleton Round-Up to the Umatilla County Fair. A kick in the pants to anyone who shows up to peaceful protests looking for a fight — whatever side they may be on. We hope that people who show up to the planned Saturday, Aug. 29, protest and counter-protest in Pendleton do so in good faith and not because they're looking to get into a physical confrontation with people they have already been sparring with online. Hurling insults and objects, getting into fights or screaming matches, harassment and threats aren't accomplishing anything and are a distraction from important messages that others are trying to get across.  |

So it only feels right that after being proclaimed dead, following seemingly endless seasons of Coachella where it was worn in tight-flare-pants form, it would rise again. Like a Phoenix wearing Free People. While out shopping for vintage in Brooklyn the other week, Bella Hadid wore a pair of Etro paisley denim . Twitter said she looked like a randomly generated Sims character and they weren't wrong. Paisley pants aren't the type of thing you see very much of these days, especially worn unironically. But if Bella Hadid looks like a Sims character, then I want to look like a Sims character. The paisley Etro pants in question are apparently owned by every celebrity. Elsa Hosk and Irina Shayk have the exact same pair in a slightly different color. And as for paisley propaganda in general, Alicia Vikander was just spotted wearing the pattern while vacationing in Ibiza in July. Emily Ratajowski wore a '90s-esque Realisation Par paisley slip while out in New York last month. Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian were early adopters of the second paisley wave and wore it while eating pasta in Italy last year. Evidently, paisley is on the rise. Maybe it's the fact that we've given it a year-long break from festival fashion and now the pattern can break out again on its own, no strings attached to its past iterations. Or maybe it's exactly that: that the paisley pattern serves as a reminder of the early 2000s and simpler times when we stood in crowds filled with people, flower crowns and all. Whatever it is, the pattern is slowly seeping into the zeitgeist. As we gradually start parting ways with our short shorts as summer comes to a close, paisley jeans and trousers seem like the most unexpected way to start accepting pants back into our lives. They're way more interesting than denim and apparently also a surefire way to get someone to compare you to a Sim, which in 2020 is definitely way better than being a human. The star has been quietly working behind the scenes on numerous projects (just last week, she and Prince Harry volunteered with Baby2Baby) and one of them is all about the importance of voting. In a teaser video for Instagram, Meghan was captured in a conversation with Gloria Steinem about representation and "how all women are linked, not ranked." For the casual backyard chat, Meghan wore a plain white tee, Anine Bing striped bottoms, a pair of Stella McCartney strap sandals, and, at one point, a Janessa Leoné wide brim hat. Steinem, meanwhile, kept it classic in all black. Since moving back to the West Coast, Meghan's adopted more of the laidback Cali vibes in her outfits (Queen E isn't there to police her wardrobe choices anymore! We kid...) in lieu of rocking her royally-approved fitted dresses and trousers. | Supreme Fall/Winter 2020 Pants - HYPEBEAST Posted: 17 Aug 2020 12:00 AM PDT  To accompany its Fall/Winter 2020 lookbook, Supreme has released a closer look at all the pants arriving this season. Matching the outerwear, sweaters, tops and tees it has prepared for FW20, Supreme has also readied an array of relaxed bottoms to look out for. A notable style is an intricately printed pair of tapestry jeans, along with trousers covered with Toshio Saeki's ero guro nansensu graphics and Supreme herringbone print trousers in two colors. Collaborations found in the pants section include jeans and sweats with original artwork by Lee Scratch Perry, GORE-TEX Smurfs active bottoms and color-blocked Fox Racing sweatpants. Rounding up the selection is a series of Box Logo overalls, bondage zipper trousers, rock-studded pants and double knee work pants. Supreme's FW20 collection will see its regular weekly releases, starting with its first drop arriving in-stores globally and online on August 20, and in Japan on August 22.
